Maine Gov., Senator to Hold Discussions on Drug Epidemic

Gov. Paul LePage and Sen. Angus King are looking to develop strategies to combat Maine's drug abuse epidemic.

King will join National Drug Control Policy Director Michael Botticelli, prevention and treatment experts, law enforcement officials and others on Tuesday for a roundtable discussion at Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems in Brewer. The event will focus on how federal policies can be improved.

On Wednesday, nearly two dozen of Maine's top law enforcement and health care officials will meet with Republican Gov. Paul LePage for a discussion that's also dedicating to solving the growing drug problem.

Among those expected to attend LePage's drug summit are Brig. Gen. Gerald Bolduc of the Maine National Guard, Roy McKinney, director of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Bruce Campbell of the Bangor Area Recovery Network.
