Company Recalls Patio Chairs Sold at Home Depot

Brown Jordan Services is recalling over 250,000 Hampton Bay Fall River swivel patio chairs due to a "falling hazard."

The dining and lounge chairs — sold exclusively at Home Depot — are made of steel with a swivel base and arm rest. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Brown Jordan has received 410 reports of the swivel base breaking, including 16 reports of injuries.

The recall affects 265,000 chairs sold at Home Depot stores nationwide and online at Homedepot.com from October 2012 through January 2015 for about $200 for a set of two chairs to $550 for a 7-piece patio set. An additional 16,000 chairs were sold in Canada.

The chairs have a red or green cushion, or are prepared for a custom slipcover with white liner fabric covering the cushions

The company said anyone who has purchased the chairs should stop using them immediately. For a free repair kit, call 855-899-2127 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays or visit www.bjsoutdoor.com/recall-information.
