Debate Stalls Republican National Convention Rules Committee Meeting

Although considered a threat to disruption, the Anti-Trump movement was not the driving force behind the delay

Private meetings forced a four-hour delay at Republican National Convention Rules Committee meeting in Cleveland Thursday, NBC News reported.

Grassroots activists want to change the Republican Party primary in 2020 and give more power to party activists. The RNC wants to keep the power, while the Trump campaign wants to win the nomination without chaos. Although considered a threat to disruption, the Anti-Trump movement was not the driving force behind the delay.

The groups were working out a deal in the meeting to finalize rules to run the Republican convention and the Republican primary process. Taking part in the meetings were Trump's top aide Paul Manafort and the RNC's leader, Reince Priebus.

Earlier, chairwoman Enid Mickelson also said a printer malfunction also delayed the proceedings by just “ten minutes.”
