Driver Killed by Nevada Police After Barreling Into Chicken Wing Fest

The man tried to drive through a barricade and into the Biggest Little City Wing Fest

A man was shot to death by police Sunday after he tried to run over a police officer before trying to drive into a crowded chicken wing festival in Reno, Nevada, NBC News reported.

Washoe County Sheriff's spokesman Bob Harmon said the suspect, who was not identified, was an adult male in a silver minivan who “failed to yield” to an officer’s attempt to stop the vehicle.

The man tried to drive through a barricade and into the Biggest Little City Wing Fest, an annual chicken wing event that attracts thousands of visitors, according to festival organizers. The van crashed into a vendor and swerved toward an officer, before another officer fired at the van.

The man was pronounced dead at a hospital, according to NBC station KRNV. No one else was hurt, according to police.
