$75 Lotto Winner Really Wins $75K

A man walked away from a Los Angeles-area gas station with a $75 win after playing a lottery scratcher -- but he should have left with a much heftier $75,000, and now the search is on to find the lucky winner.

The unidentified man cashed in a lottery scratcher at about 4:15 p.m. on March 25 at a Chevron station in Palmdale, said Shamsun Nahar Islam, the station's manager.

The cashier who was working at that time was unaware how much the ticket was worth and gave the man $75, Islam said. After the customer left, the cashier and Islam realized that the ticket was worth $75,000.

The winner can be seen on the store’s surveillance video.

"I hope the right person comes and picks up the ticket," she said.

Islam realized the mistake and contacted the Lottery, but the winner's identity remains unknown.

She said the man was driving a big truck and describes him as in his mid-20s, based on the surveillance video.
