Substitute Teacher Accused of Beating Students With Belt

Prince George’s County Public Schools removed a substitute teacher accused of striking students with a belt at Gwynn Park Middle School in Brandywine, Maryland, after recorded footage of the incident surfaced online.

The video, captured by a student, appears to show the teacher striking several students on the floor with a belt. It was posted on the website WorldStarHipHop.com where it has been viewed more than 600,000 times. Some Gwynn Park students posted it on Twitter.

Prince George's County Public Schools reviewed the video and acted quickly, removing the substitute teacher from the classroom and banning him from working in the school district.

The school system referred the matter to the county police and child protective services.
