Syphilis Is Making a Comeback in the U.S.

Syphilis, which was on the verge of elimination in 2000 in the U.S., has rebounded with cases nearly doubling since 2005, health experts said Thursday, NBC News reported. More than 90 percent of cases are among men, according to a weekly report released by the CDC, and most of those men are gay or bisexual. Rates are also higher among African Americans — the syphilis rate among black men was 5.2 times higher than the rate in white men.
