One child was killed and another child is in critical condition after a mobile home fire Tuesday morning in Hermon, Maine.

The fire at 292 Wing Road broke out around 7 a.m. The home was occupied by John Parker and Lasey Reidy, who left the children alone as they ran errands.

Fireifghters located the body of 9-year-old Wyatt Parker of Levant in the living room. Parker was spending the night with his two cousins.

Ashlyn Parker, 10, was rescued from her bedroom by firefighters. She was in critical condition as of Tuesday morning.

John Parker, 8, escaped the burning house and flagged down motorists to help.

The two parents returned to the home as firefighters were arriving on scene. Ashyln and John are the children of the two adults.

Officials believe the fire started in the kitchen. The fire remains under investigation.
