1 Dead as Icy Roads Cause Crashes Across New Hampshire

One crash in the southern part of the state included a police cruiser

New Hampshire State Police responded to a fatal crash on Interstate 89 in on Tuesday morning, one of numerous accidents across the state caused by icy road conditions.

Maxwell Miller, 23, of Hillsboro, died at the scene of injuries suffered in the 2-vehicle crash, which occurred around 4:21 a.m. on I-89 in Grantham.

According to state police, Miller was driving north on I-89 in a green Subaru Forester when he lost control of the vehicle on the icy roadway. His car spun around, striking the guardrails off of the passing lane as well as the traveling lane. His vehicle then veered back into the passing lane and was struck by a United Parcel Services tractor trailer operated by Grant Hodgdon, 55, of Cornish. Hodgdon was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation by state police.

Seacoastonline.com reported that numerous other vehicles went off the road on Tuesday morning due to the slick road conditions. On Route 101 in particular, several accidents were reported, including one involving a Hampton police cruiser. No one was believed to be seriously injured in any of those crashes.
