Father, Adult Son Killed in Maine Fire

Authorities say the a woman, identified as the men's wife and mother, was injured in the fire

A Maine man and his 25-year-old son were killed after a fire ripped through their home Monday morning.

The Maine State Fire Marshal's Office said the heavy fire at the one-story home on Cattle Pond Road in Washington broke out shortly before 6 a.m.

Fire crews and neighbors pulled 25-year-old Isaac Rhodes from the burning home, and officials said that resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

The body of his father, 53-year-old Steven Rhodes, was found in the rubble of the fire that had fallen into the basement, according to state fire marshals.

A woman, identified as 56-year-old Elizabeth Rhodes, was also injured in the fire. She was taken to Maine Medical Center for smoke inhalation and burns.

The fire remains under investigation.
