12 Displaced After Fire at Multi-Family Home

Deputy Fire Chief Brian Nardelli says the fire broke out around 6:30 p.m.

Fire officials say a two-alarm blaze gutted a multi-family home in Brockton, Massachusetts, and displaced a total of 12 residents.

Deputy Fire Chief Brian Nardelli says the fire broke out around 6:30 p.m. Thursday at a two-family home on Crescent Street. A heavy column of smoke was visible as fire crews pulled out of the station and headed to the scene.

High temperatures didn't affect the firefighters, who knocked down the blaze in about 20 minutes. No injuries were reported.

Nardelli says the fire is believed to have started on the building's first floor near a porch. The cause of the blaze is still unknown, but Nardelli says it does not appear to be suspicious.

An investigation is ongoing.
