Boston police say 15 people were arrested in the city's West Roxbury neighborhood during a protest against a natural gas pipeline under construction.

Department spokesman Stephen McNulty tells The Boston Globe the protesters entered the work zone Thursday morning and blocked an excavator from working.

McNulty says the protesters ranged in age from 28 to 85. They were taken into custody without incident for disturbing the peace and later released. He says they will be summonsed to court.

The Spectra Energy pipeline project involves building a natural gas pipeline through Dedham and West Roxbury and ending at a blasting quarry.
