Police: Driver Hit 15-Year-Old Intentionally in Lowell, Massachusetts, Fled

Police say a driver hit a 15-year-old cyclist with his truck on purpose and fled the scene Friday in Lowell, Massachusetts.

The boy was riding on Lawrence Street around 2:30 p.m. when he was hit by the vehicle, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office.

Investigators on the scene say the boy is in serious but stable condition. He was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center before being transported to Boston Children's Hospital.

The driver allegedly drove off after the crash. Authorities confirmed shortly after 8 p.m. that the truck that hit the boy, as well as the boy's bicycle, had been recovered.

No arrests have yet been made, but police note that the investigation is in progress.

Police are continuing to search for the driver. They believe he is either a teen or in his early 20s.
