A young Maine man who died when a fire destroyed his home Monday morning is believed to have set the fire that killed him and a previous fire last year, according to fire officials.

Eighteen-year-old Jordan McEwen of 100 Dow Siding Rd. in Caribou was found by firefighters in a bedroom of his mobile home shortly after 10 a.m. after dying of smoke inhalation, according to Maine's State Fire Marshal.

Authorities say McEwen had been living with relatives at the home since November when a fire damaged his former apartment. McEwen was a suspect in that fire and likely set Monday's fire, according to the Fire Marshal's Office.

McEwen's mother and brother also lived in the mobile home and were not home at the time of the fire, authorities said.
