1 Dead, 1 Injured After Being Hit by Amtrak Train in Vermont

The accident occurred around 1 p.m. Sunday

One person was killed and another injured after they were struck by an Amtrak train in Brattleboro, Vermont on Sunday afternoon.

According to WPTZ-TV, the crash happened just after 1 p.m. as the train was headed from St. Albans to Washington, D.C., with 45 people on board. An Amtrak representative said the pedestrians were hit 2 miles north of Brattleboro.

None of the passengers or crew members were injured. The train was stalled for 45 minutes while authorities investigated the incident.

Police said one person was released at the scene, and the second was brought to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

The incident is being investigated by Amtrak Police and the Brattleboro Police Department.

The victim's name was not released.
