2 Injured in House Fire

Blaze reported around 2 a.m. in Scituate, RI

Two people have been treated at a hospital after an early morning house fire in Scituate, Rhode Island.

The fire was reported around 2 a.m. Wednesday at the home near Plainfield Pike.

The fire chief says a smoke detector alerted the man and woman inside, and they were able to get out.

They were taken to Rhode Island Hospital for smoke inhalation, and were released later in the morning.

Investigators are probing the cause.

The home is not near a fire hydrant and tanker trucks had to be brought in. The house was heavily damaged.
