2 Massachusetts Men Arrested in Lowell Drug Bust

Among items seized by police: 358 grams of heroin, 69 grams of cocaine and $4800

Two Massachusetts men were arrested Saturday morning in a drug bust in Lowell, according to police.

As part of an investigation targeting illegal heroin distribution, police executed a search warrant at 10 a.m. at a residence on Cross Street.

Upon presenting the warrant to two men, police discovered 358 grams of heroin, 69 grams of cocaine, processing and packaging materials, 16 cell phones, and $4824 in cash. Police said they also found 35 additional smaller baggies of heroin and 41 smaller baggies of cocaine packaged for sale.

Police took Frederick Diaz, 31, and Leonardo Leger, age 26, both of Lowell, into custody.

Authorities said living at the home was the wife of one man and four children, ages 2 through 15.

Both Diaz and Leger are charged with trafficking heroin, trafficking cocaine and trafficking in a school zone. The men are being held at the Lowell Police Station until their arraignment Monday at Lowell District Court.
