Two pedestrians are dead after being hit by a minivan on Cape Cod on Monday afternoon.
The accident occurred on Route 6A in Sandwich in the area of Merchant Square around 1:45 p.m., according to police.
Police said the victims, both women, were 70 and 88 years old. They were reportedly in a crosswalk when they were hit by a 2001 Honda Odyssey driven by a 54-year-old Foxboro man.
Police said they received confirmation shortly after 3:30 p.m. that both victims had died. Their names are not being released pending notification of family members.
Route 6A and Merchant Square Road were shut down until 4:15 p.m.
The accident remains under investigation.
