2 State Troopers Injured in Crash at Accident Scene

Police say the incident happened around 7:50 a.m. Monday along Interstate 95 southbound

Two New Hampshire state troopers were injured after police say two drivers crashed into an accident scene in Portsmouth.

Police say the incident happened around 7:50 a.m. Monday along Interstate 95 southbound.

Trooper Scott Garton was working on a crash investigation as a tow truck removed a car from the side of the road. Police say Garton saw another vehicle veer out of control and head toward him.

The side of that car hit Garton and pinned him against his cruiser. He suffered minor hip and leg injuries.

Police say another driver lost control around 8:10 a.m. and hit Sergeant Steven Cooper's cruiser. Cooper had responded to the crash involving Garton. He suffered back injuries.

Both troopers were treated at a hospital and released. Neither driver was hurt.
