Department estimates that East Boston blaze caused $200K in damage

Crews battled a fire Saturday afternoon that displaced 22 residents in East Boston, fire officials say.

According to Boston Fire, no one was injured in the blaze, which the chief estimates caused about $200,000 in damage.

Officials believe the fire was caused by an electrical short on the first floor.

The American Red Cross of Massachusetts was on the scene to assist the 17 adults and five children who were displaced.
