Clinton, Mass. Body Identified as Missing Teen

(NECN: Julie Loncich, Clinton, Mass.) - Worcester County DA Office confirms that a body found near a supermarket in Clinton, Mass. is that of a 15-year-old girl reported missing Friday night.

Officials say they do not suspect foul play.

"She was the love of my life," said Sandra Sowa, grandmother to teenager Mackenzie Hohl-Sowa.

Sometimes a families grief needs no description.

"My heart is broken and I don't know how to fix it," said Sowa.

Sowa last saw her 15-year-old granddaughter Mackenzie Friday night. She told her she was going out with friends.

"We used to always have this thing, I love you to the universe,'" said Sowa. "She kissed me and tell me she was going out. And I said be safe. She goes, 'I love you to the universe, Nana, I will.'"

But she never called, never texted and never stopped by again. Family and friends scoured Clinton, Mass. for three days.

"Searching, searching. My grandson, my husband, walked the tracks," said Sowa. "Nobody has called and told us anything, but last night I knew. Don't ask me how, I got in bed, and I said, I just know."

On Sunday afternoon, a heartbreaking discovery answered their questions. A man walking these railroad tracks behind a supermarket found a body - which officials later identified as Mackenzie's.

"She was just a bright, smart, fun girl. She away energetic," said Josh Turnini, a family friend. "She just light up the room when she came in."

Sunday night Mackenzie's friends gathered at Clinton High School to remember the spunky teenager, while on the other side of town, a grandmother wept

"She was a good kid, she went through a lot, this little girl," said Sowa.
