Gov. Patrick to Mark Inauguration With Volunteer Work

(NECN: Alison King) - More is being learned about Governor Deval Patrick's plans to mark his second inaugural. Instead of parties and galas, the Governor is inviting people like the Patriots' Vince Wilfork and other local celebrities to join him in marking the occasion with volunteer work.

What would bring New England Patriot Vince Wilfork, Governor Deval Patrick, former Bruins star Cam Neely and a couple of eighth graders -- among others -- to the same stage in Boston's historic Faneuil Hall?

An interest in community service. Specifically -- the day of service on Saturday, January 8th, that will serve as the focal point of Governor Patrick's inaugural festivities.

And with the goal of getting the entire state involved, the Governor has launched "Project 351" -- a coalition of young people from each of the state's 351 cities and towns -- all of whom will share a strong commitment to service.

Tickets to Celebrate Massachusetts, the January 6 eveningInaugural celebration at the Boston Public Library, will be availableto the public for $50 by clicking here.
