Congress Reaches Agreement on Farm Bill

(NECN) - Some good news for dairy farmers and milk lovers: Congress has reached a deal to stop a spike in milk prices.

Top leaders in both parties on the House and Senate agriculture committees agreed to a one-year extension of the 2008 Farm Bill that expired in October.

The full house could vote on it as early as Sunday night.

Agriculture secretary Tom Vilsack said if the current dairy program lapsed, Americans would face the prospect of paying up to $7 for a gallon of milk.
