Dozens Rally at Mass. State House to Promote Stricter Gun Laws

(NECN) - People across the country took to the streets to take part in the National Day of Awareness Against Gun Violence. In Boston, a few dozen people rallied at the State House to promote stricter gun laws.

Among those in the crowd was Sarah Flint, a woman who lost her nephew and son to homicide. "My son has been dead 31 years. I will never get over that," said Flint.

State Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz was also at the event.

"We have to remember these are not just a few incidents in an isolated way around our country, but that this is going on every day in our communities," said Chang-Diaz. "What we are asking for in these laws is not radical stuff. These are common sense, practical solutions."

Organizers are also calling for expanded gun background checks.
