(NECN: Amy Sinclair, Carrabassett, Maine) - The Maine Warden Service will bring in additional manpower Tuesday morning to help with an intensive foot search for missing Medford, Mass., teen Nicholas Joy.
Joy went missing at Sugarloaf in Carrabassett Valley, Maine early Sunday afternoon after separating from his father at the top of the Binder Trail near the summit on the west side.
"It was supposed to be the last run of the day," said Lt. Kevin Adam with the Maine Warden Service.
When Joy failed to show up at the designated time, the family contacted ski patrol who then searched for Joy until early Monday morning More than 50 people including ski patrol, wardens, search and rescue workers and volunteers spent all day Monday trying to locate the missing teen using skis, snowshoes and snowmobiles.
"This is a tough environment for searching, It's very labor intensive, said Adam.
Ski Patrol members skied the trails and glades, while wardens focused on the on back side of the mountain where skiers often get lost.
Skiers who were on the mountain Sunday said visibility was poor, no more than 10 feet.
Joy"s parents are both at the resort waiting for word on their son.
