Boston Tries to Ensure Safe St. Pats Celebrations

(NECN) Boston is making plans to ensure everyone stays safe at St. Patrick's Day festivities on Sunday

Mayor Tom Menino has ordered South Boston liquor stores to close by 4 p.m. Sunday, which is St. Patrick’s Day. And bars in the area have to close by 7:30 p.m.

Several streets in Southie will be closed on Sunday and parking will be restricted.

Officials recommend using public transportation to get to and from the parade, which steps off at 12:30 p.m. It will be carried live on NECN and streaming on NECN.com
