(NECN: Scot Yount, Worcester, Mass.) - "That's horrifying," said a neighbor that didn't want to be identified.
A young mother was found dead with her 3- and 5-year-old children at her side, according to neighbors.
Police got the call around 10 p.m. Friday. According to the neighbor, a property manager and a neighbor discovered a tenant dead after they were able to coach the 5-year-old boy into unlocking the door. Police found the child, his 3-year-old sister and their mother who had apparently been deceased for some time.
"Then when they brought out the body bag it was just like, I can' describe it, so much is going through your head, you are thinking of these poor kids," said the neighbor.
Police have not released a report, but the death was being declared the result of some kind of drug overdose.
The neighbor told us she had been at times upset by the noise she heard from the apartment.
Police told neighbors the young woman had been dead between three and five days. Some of those neighbors told us that they suspected suspicious activity in the apartment, but weren't worried specifically for the children's safety, as much as their mental states.

"Their well being in the sense that the way I could hear the yelling the screaming that was going on, no child should be treated like that," said the neighbor.
The children's names or conditions have not been released. They were reportedly taken to a local hospital.
Police are continuing their investigation.
