2,000 Pack Boston Cathedral for Interfaith Service

(NECN: Alison King, Boston) - Interfaith service that took place Thursday at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston wuld have been a moving and emotional event just given the number of religious leaders with their messages of hope and healing, but throw in a presidential visit, some powerful speeches and some beautiful music performances, and this will be a day that is long remembered here in Boston.

Boston Mayor Tom Menino summed up the sentiments of a city.

Cardinal Archbishop Sean O'Malley also spoke.

Two thousand people packed the church in Boston's South End just days after two explosions, a terrorist attack, during the Boston Marathon killed three people and injured over 170.

From renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma's haunting melody to the stirring words of eight spiritual leaders representing a diverse range of religions, to the emotional voices of the Boston Children's Chorus, it was an event that drew both smiles and tears.

Gov. Deval Patrick spoke just before President Obama, who talked about how Boston is an iconic city and how all Americans have come to think of it as home.
