Parents of Bombing Suspects Say Tsarnaevs Were Framed

(NECN/NBC News: Adrienne Mong, Moscow) - The parents of the two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings are speaking to Russian media.

Both said they believe in their sons' innocence and say they were framed.

The father of the two suspects says he believes they are innocent.

He told NBC News that he believes they were framed, and he's frightened for his younger son.

He said that he last spoke to the two boys right after the marathon on Monday.

This was to 26-year-old Tamerlan, who's now dead, and 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who is in custody and in a hospital. The father said he called Monday and wanted to make sure they were OK.

The mother of the two sons claims that she believes also that they are innocent and has described them as good, courteous and model students.

Said the suspects’ mother, Zubeidat Tsarnaeva: "And being a mother, what I can say is that I am really sure, I am like a hundred percent sure that this is a set-up,” she said. “My two sons are really innocent, and I know that neither of them never, never has talked about whatever they are saying about now."

Now she went on to say that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev in particular was loved by many friends and teachers was looking to become a great doctor.

She talked about Tamerlan, who had ambitions to become a professional boxer.

An aunt in Canada has also said that Tamerlan has become more religious and was praying five times a day.

She last spoke to him in February.
