(NECN: Cambridge, Mass.) - Musician James Taylor performed "The Water is Wide," alongside the MIT Symphony Orchestra, at fallen MIT officer Sean Collier's memorial on Wednesday morning.

As many as 10,000 people showed up at Briggs Field on campus.

School President L. Rafael Reif told those gathered that Collier not only had a job at MIT, but also had a life at MIT.

Authorities say Collier, 27, was killed last Thursday by the suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings.
