(NECN) - According to the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, fugitive sex offender Michael Murphy, 48, who was arrested Jan. 4, has been charged with failing to register as a sex offender.
Murphy was wanted on an outstanding Strafford County (N.H.) arrest warrant for failure to appear in Strafford County Superior Court on June 1, 2012.
He was previously convicted of four counts of felonious sexual assault on Aug. 30, 2002.
Murphy is currently being held at the Suffolk County Jail, pending the resolution of additional outstanding criminal cases in Massachusetts.
