(NECN: Kristen Carosa) – It’s been years in the making, and now a new triage for the homeless has been opened in Worcester.
“We made a commitment to the homeless people and residents there that we could begin to make life better for them,” said Aaron Gornstein, undersecretary of the Worcester
Housing and Community Development
Executive Director Jim Cuddy says the Greater Worcester Housing Connection Triage and Assessment Center will provide emergency short-term housing.
The $3.2 million center, which is state and privately funded, will help the homeless find supported long-term housing and substance abuse services.
The goal of the facility is to get the homeless back on their feet as soon as possible.
