NH Man Charged After Chase, Police Shooting in Manchester

(NECN) - A New Hampshire man is facing charges after a chase and police-involved shooting.

Police responded to the Seven Days Market on Union Street in Manchester just before 6 p.m Monday for a report of an unconscious male.

An EMT attempted to treat him and the man allegedly closed his door, backed up, revved his engine and then accelerated, nearly hitting the EMT.

Police tried to stop the fleeing SUV more than once. Officers opened fire when they say the driver rammed a patrol car.

Christopher Varagianis, 37, was taken into custody. He is being treated at the hospital for two gunshot wounds to the leg.

Varagianis faces several charges, including attempted first degree assault.
