FBI Director Admits Lack of Communication Before Marathon Bombings

(NECN) - The director of the FBI is admitting to some crucial communication lapses within the agency before the Boston Marathon bombings.

Director Robert Mueller told a congressional committee that a lack of internal communication within the agency may have prevented the FBI from alerting Russian intelligence about Tamerlan Tsarnaev's trip to Russia prior to the bombings.

Mueller said that the FBI has changed its procedures following the bombings to require a more formal process of communication between investigators.

Mueller disputed any speculation that a communication breakdown helped lead the bombings.
