Investigators at Home of Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez

(NECN: Josh Brogadir) - There is an active scene at the home of Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez.

But why police have been there for several hours is still unclear.

Early on, the only activity was a cleaning crew of four women leaving the home.

That all changed about 7 p.m., when detectives arrived.

It wasn't until four hours after NECN knocked at the door of the house of Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez that police went inside, descending on his Ronald C. Meyer Drive home in North Attleboro, Mass.

SI.com is reporting that Hernandez has been questioned by Massachusetts State Police in connection with a possible homicide investigation, not as a murder suspect, but in relation to a car rented in his name that is connected to the crime.

Two men tried to leave the Hernandez home in a white Chrysler sedan that had been parked in the driveway all day.

They were blocked by police and later taken away by authorities, not in handcuffs.

Not long after, a white SUV with tinted windows went into the driveway.

About 7:30 p.m., a courier dropped off a package from a Boston law firm.

And ten minutes after that, a woman got out if a car with Connecticut plates and was escorted by police into the home.

As it got dark, detectives continued to focus on the white Chrysler in the driveway with its doors open and the white SUV in the garage.

In a brief statement, the Patriots said they were aware of the reports, but they said they did not anticipate saying anything due to the ongoing investigation.
