Body of Albert DeSalvo to Be Exhumed

(NECN: Scot Yount, Peabody, Mass.) - Authorities are expected to exhume the body of Albert DeSalvo at Puritan Lawn cemetery in Peabody, Mass. this afternoon.

Police believe they'll be able to connect DeSalvo to the murder of 19-year-old Mary Sullivan, the final victim of the now infamous Boston Strangler.

A recent DNA sample obtained from DeSalvo's nephew was nearly an exact match to DNA found at the scene of Sullivan's murder in January of 1964.

DeSalvo was killed in prison in 1973 while serving a sentence for unrelated sexual assaults and robbery.

Investigators will take a DNA sample from the body to confirm their suspicion.

Boston Police are guarding the entrance to the cemetery, with the exhumation expected to happen around 2 p.m.
