Quincy, Mass. Drunk Driving Case Linked to Aaron Hernandez

(NECN: John Moroney, Quincy, Mass.)- A drunk driving case in Quincy, Mass. is generating a lot of attention. The suspect is a friend of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, and Hernandez was with Alexander Bradley when he got stopped by state police.

The drunk driving charge is the least of Alexander Bradley’s charges with Aaron Hernandez. Bradley is suing Hernandez, claiming that the former NFL star shot him in the face. Later this week, Bradley is expected to testify in front of a grand jury investigating the death of Odin Lloyd.

It was a very brief court appearance for Bradley on Tuesday, a former friend of Hernandez. In January, the NFL star was with Bradley when he was arrested and charged with speeding and OUI. Bradley was in Quincy District Court to deal with those charges. Police say he was traveling more than 100 mph when he was stopped. Hernandez was in the front seat telling the state trooper who he was and that everything was okay.

Two weeks later, Bradley claims Hernandez shot him in the face after they left the Miami strip club Tootsies. The Conn. man is now using the former Patriots tight end, who has also been charged with killing Odin Lloyd. Bradley says Hernandez pointed an unlicensed gun at him, and, according to the suit, the gun discharged. Bradley says he was shot in the head, losing one eye and suffering permanent damage. His hand was also injured. Bradley is asking for damages in excess of $100,000.

Bradley is expected to testify before that grand jury on Thursday.

As far as the drunk driving charge, he’s expected back in Quincy District court in September.
