US State Dept. Issues Global Travel Warning

(NECN: John Moroney, Boston) - Terminal E at Logan Airport is packed with travelers, even as the U.S. government issues a warning about a possible al-Qaida attack.

This a global travel warning to Americans but the U.S. State Department says the potential for terrorism is particularly strong in the Middle East and North Africa. Embassies in those countries will be closed Sunday because of the threat, with the U.S. possibly hoping to avoid another attack like the one in Benghazi.

U.S. citizens are urged to take extra precautions overseas. The State Department points to the potential danger involving public transportation systems and other prime sites for tourists.

Coming at the close of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, this is the first global travel warning in sometime. Travelers we spoke with say they appreciate the heads up.
