Martin Luther King III: This Is an Unusual Moment in Our World History

(NECN/AP)- Among the many speakers that spoke to the Americans of all backgrounds and colors that massed on the National Mall to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech was his son, Martin Luther King III.

King spoke at the same spot that his father gave his unforgettable speech on the struggle for racial equality 50 years earlier, alongside the first black president. He spoke about the progress the nation has made in the past fifty years, but also addressed that there is still more progress to be made.

“This is an unusual moment in our world history, as we observe this fiftieth anniversary. And I am so thankful for the opportunity to really thank America for helping to realize the dream, although I must say it is not yet realized. And so we must redouble and quadruple our efforts,” said King.
