(NECN: Jackie Bruno, Boston) - Boston students are going back to school Wednesday morning and this year will be a little different than years past.
First, all students will receive free lunch. This is part of a new national imitative to ensure that students from all income backgrounds have nutritious meals at school.
Also, students will have a new way to report bullying. By texting 617-765-7125, they can report bullying and then that information will be forwarded to a specialist for a quick response.
We talked with the principal of the Roosevelt Upper School in Hyde Park. She says she’s thrilled they’re able to add another resource to help students with bullying.
She said, “KIds have to feel safe in schools. All about safety when it comes to children.“
If you’re driving around the Boston area, make sure to watch out for students who may be walking to school or waiting for the bus. Remember traffic may be heavier now that school is back in session.
