(NECN: Jackie Bruno) - Darriean Hess, 19, spent the night in jail. She’s being held on $50,000 bail for four felony counts. She’s going to be arraigned Wednesday morning, but Tuesday we spoke with one of the victims who survived that terrible accident.
Margo Heigh said, “I just knew there was a car coming right at me and that’s all I remember.”
Luckily, Heigh survived, but two of her friends didn’t. Elise Bouchard, 52, of Danvers, Mass. and 60-year-old Pamela Wells of South Hamilton, Mass. were both killed when Hess of Seabrook, N.H. allegedly plowed her car into the crowd of bikes on Saturday.
She’s since been arrested, charged with two counts of negligent homicide and two counts of second degree assault.
Heigh said, “I’m devastated because I know her life has been ruined also. I know that something has to be made right. So that will make feel better.“
Police say excessive speed and inattention while driving contributed to the accident, causing Hess to cross the double yellow line and hit the bicyclists. It’s a deadly accident that should have been avoided. Hess was pulled over earlier that day for speeding and driving without a license.
“What she got was a citation for not having a driver’s license, not a crime in New Hampshire, given a summons.”
But that didn’t stop Hess from driving again; she got back in the same car later that day and allegedly drove until the accident.

Heigh said, “Nothing is going to bring my friends back, but maybe we can all learn from this.”
This arraignment is scheduled to begin at 11:00 Wednesday morning. We will be in the courtroom bringing you the latest as soon as we have it.
