Woman Fatally Shot in Road Rage Incident in Vt.

ST. ALBANS, Vt. (AP) - Police in St. Albans, Vt., say a man who ran a red light fatally shot the driver of a car he nearly struck after the two got into an argument.

Police said they arrested 30-year-old Matthew Webster of Swanton a short time after the shooting at about 5:40 p.m. Wednesday. They said they believe it's a case of road rage that went violent.

After the red light was run at North Main and Lower Newton streets, police said the driver of the car that was nearly struck, a woman, followed Webster's vehicle and confronted him. Police said Webster is accused of taking out the gun and shooting her multiple times.

The 31-year-old woman from Highgate was taken to Northwest Medical Center, where she died. Her name has not been released.
