(NECN: John Moroney, Somerville, Mass.) - A fire that damaged a Somerville, Mass. home and left several people homeless does not appear to be suspicious, according to firefighters.
The fire occurred Thursday night on Dickinson Street.
There have been many arsons in the neighborhood, but Somerville fire chief Kevin Kelleher does not believe this blaze is related.
"Right now, we're listing the fire as undetermined and under investigation," said Kelleher. "We don't feel at this time that it is suspicious and we feel that there is a number of accidental causes we're pursuing."
According to Kelleher, the fire department has seen about 17 such fires in the city since June. Four have been determined to have been arson, four others accidental, while the remaining nine remain under investigation.
A lot of damage was done to the second and third floors of the building.
