NSA Official: Agency Director, Top Deputy Stepping Down

(NECN) - There has been a major shake-up at the National Security Agency, months after its controversial surveillance programs came to light.

An intelligence official confirms that Agency Director Army General Keith Alexander and a top deputy will be leaving over the next six months.

That official stressed neither were being pushed out of their positions.

Alexander defended the agency's programs multiple times in congressional hearings, after former analyst Edward Snowden revealed those programs were used to spy and collect data on people.
