Over 1000 Parents Attend Danvers, Mass. Meeting on Teacher Murder

(NECN: Nicole Jacobs, Danvers, Mass.) – Over 1000 parents attended the meeting held at Danvers High School on Thursday regarding the recent murder of beloved teacher, Colleen Ritzer.

Additionally, more than 300 students sought out counseling at the school on Thursday.

“This is a small town, and you just don’t expect this kind of thing to happen here,” said Danvers parent Lisa Smith.

Chief Neil Quellette of the Danvers Police Department said the bathroom would be closed for the foreseeable future. He would not comment on Ritzer's classroom.

“We’ll never recover from the loss of Colleen, but we want to get this community and this school back to some sort of normalcy,” said the chief.

Classes at the high school resumes tomorrow.
