(NECN) - Police in Quincy, Mass. confirm that they have a person of interest in the animal abuse case regarding a young female pit bull that was found bruised, beaten and abandoned on the streets of Quincy. Her injuries were so bad that she had to be put down. She became known as puppy doe.
Police received hundreds of tips.
Quincy Police have not released the person's name, but confirm he is being held in New Britain, Conn. under charges of misleading a police investigation.

The young dog, who has come to be known as "Puppy Doe," was found in Quincy in September. She was badly injured, having been stabbed, beaten, starved and having her tongue sliced. She was put down because of her severe injuries.
