American Airlines Flight From Miami to Boston Makes Emergency Landing

(NECN) - An American Airlines flight from Miami to Boston was forced to make an emergency landing in Orlando overnight because of a cracked windshield.

We have a picture courtesy of our own meteorologist Tim Kelley who was on board the jet.

It was American Airlines flight 160.

An American Airlines spokesperson says the pilot noticed the cracked windshield shortly after takeoff.

Damage of this type is rare, but since the window is double paned, there was no immediate threat.

The pilot landed in Orlando as a precaution, and the 150 passengers and six crew members took a different plane the rest of the way, landing around 2:30 Wednesday morning.

Afterwards Tim tweeted: "just got home safe and sound. American Airlines did excellent work tonight."
