(NBC News: Jay Gray, New York) - Despite the falling temperatures, and at times falling rain, the holiday week is on the rise just outside of New York's Central Park.
Crews are working through the weather to inflate the massive balloons for the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, while at the same time keeping an eye on conditions that could keep them from flying.
"We're inflating all of our giant balloons that we feel confident that will fly in tomorrow's parade," says parade producer Amy Kuel. "We work hand in hand with the City of New York who help us continually monitor the weather and we are going to keep an eye on it."
The balloons aren't the only ones with a holiday trip in jeopardy.
Flights have been delayed or canceled across the country.
"It is a domino effect," explains John Wallace of the Connecticut Airport authority. "Everything may be fine here, or we have a little bit of rain, but if there's problems elsewhere that could impact us here."
Rain, snow and ice are impacting highways across the country.
Some roads are closed, others just inching along because of the wintry mix.
