Fans, Friends Remember Actor Paul Walker

(NECN/NBC News: Reggie Kumar) - Fans have been gathering all day at the site where "Fast and Furious" actor Paul Walker died in a car crash Saturday. Many left flowers, candles and momentos.

Raw emotion was on the face of Tyrese Gibson. Fans stood silent as he walked around the crash site with a flower in his hand in tribute to his costar from the 'Fast and Furious" movies.

"I'm shocked," said fan Jacqueline Belnap. "It's crazy Paul Walker is in the 'Fast and Furious,' he races cars and he ends up getting into a car accident, very shocked."

It was the last place Paul Walker and Roger Rodas were seen alive; at Roda's business, they attended a charity event.

After attending that charity event, a man employees identified as Rodas and Walker drove off in a Porsche. Minutes later, the car the burst into flames on Hercules Street in Santa Clarita.

Jim Tord and his son were also at that charity event, just a few blocks away from the crash site. His son raced to the scene after seeing black smoke.

"My son's at home," said Tord. "He's still traumatized by it. He saw two of his friends die and there was nothing he could do."

Because the fire was so intense, he says no one could get close to the car.

All day long, a steady stream of fans have been visiting the area, writing movie-themed messages on poster board, leaving pictures behind and lighting candles.

"He died doing something he loved doing and he was giving something back," said fan Sandra Caipo.
