Police Investigating Fatal Revere, Mass. Hit and Run

(UPDATE: 12/11, 5:00 AM) - The Revere Police Department confirms that an MBTA bus hit, ran over, and dragged the woman. The investigation is now in the hands of MBTA Transit Police.

(NECN: Alysha Palumbo, Revere, Mass.) - Police in Revere, Mass. confirm there was a fatal pedestrian hit and run Tuesday evening.

The Suffolk County D.A.'s Office says it happened around 7:15 p.m. when a Revere woman in her early 50s was struck by a vehicle on Broadway Street by Central Avenue and was dragged about a half of a mile down the road to Tafts Street before the driver took off.

Authorities pronounced the victim dead on the scene, and have not identified her yet pending notification of next of kin.

The Suffolk County D.A.'s Office says there is no information on the make, model or color of the vehicle involved and no one has been charged yet.

Revere Police Sgt. Amy O'Hara says it's still an active investigation.

Police say there would be significant damage to the suspect's vehicle, and the vehicle would have been heading down Broadway in the direction of Chelsea and Everett.
